Additional prayers (Nawafil) for today – April, 24, 2025
In addition to the five obligatory prayers (Fard), Islam includes additional (Nawafil) prayers that are performed voluntarily. These prayers are offered at different times of the day and hold special significance.

Ishraq – 05:09
When does it start? 15–20 minutes after sunrise.
How many rak'ahs for Ishraq? 2 or 4.
Ishraq is a morning Nawafil prayer performed shortly after the sun fully rises. It is believed to bring blessings and spiritual benefit.

Duha (Chasht) – 08:16
When does it start? No earlier than 20 minutes after sunrise. The optimal time is the middle between sunrise and Dhuhr. Ends before the midday prayer (Dhuhr).
How many rak'ahs for Duha? From 2 to 12.
This prayer is known by different names: Duha, Chasht, Salakat ad-Duha. It is performed in the first half of the day and is considered desirable for those wishing to perform additional worship.

Awwabin – 18:30
When does it start? After the Maghrib prayer.
How many rak'ahs for Awwabin? 2, 4, or 6.
Awwabin is an additional prayer performed after Maghrib. Some consider it to consist of 6 rak'ahs, but 2 or 4 are also acceptable.

Witr – 20:03
When does it start? After the Isha prayer and before dawn.
How many rak'ahs for Witr? 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 (depending on the tradition).
Witr is the final prayer cycle of the day. It is considered an important and recommended prayer. The number of rak'ahs may vary: for Hanafis, it is 3, for Shafi'is, it is 1 or 3, and in some traditions, 5, 7, or even 9 rak'ahs are performed.

Tahajjud – 00:20
When does it start? At night, preferably in the second half of the night.
How many rak'ahs for Tahajjud? From 2 to 12.
Tahajjud is a voluntary prayer performed at night after Isha but before Fajr. It is recommended to perform it during the last third of the night.

Middle of the night – 22:50
When does it occur? The midpoint between Maghrib and Fajr.
The middle of the night is calculated as the midpoint between the evening prayer (Maghrib) and the dawn prayer (Fajr). This time is used in calculations for the times of nightly prayers.
